Groton-New London Airport sits in Groton, Connecticut, near New London on the southeast Connecticut coast. Field elevation is 9.1 ft MSL. The airport has two asphalt runways. Runway 05/23 is the longest at 5,000 ft. Runway 15/33 is 4,000 ft. The tower is open daily from 0700 to 2200 local. One ILS approach is published for runway 05.
Pattern altitude is not published in the facts. Use the standard 1,000 ft AGL for light piston traffic unless the current FAA Chart Supplement says otherwise. Modern Aviation is on the field. It carries 100LL, Jet A and Jet A Prist. If you need fuel or ramp details, call them at (860) 715-8800 before you go.
A few operational items matter here. Deer, birds and waterfowl are reported on and near the airport. Runway 33 has trees near the displaced threshold. There is also a railroad obstruction near runway 15. When the tower is closed, runway lighting for 05 and the high intensity runway lights for both runways are activated on CTAF. If you need customs, prior permission is required. Check the current FAA Chart Supplement for any noise or curfew restrictions before flying into the field.
