Valdez Pioneer Fld is in Valdez, Alaska. Field elevation is 128 ft MSL. The airport has one runway. Runway 06/24 is 6,500 ft asphalt, which is the longest runway on the field. There is no control tower. Use CTAF 122.9. The published pattern altitude is not listed. Use the current Chart Supplement and local procedures before you arrive.
An ILS is available for runway 06. Runway 06 also has a PAPI. MALSR is activated for runway 06. Runway 24 has runway end identifier lights. High intensity runway lights are available on both ends. The airport is a cold temperature field. Altitude correction is required at or below minus 10 degrees Celsius. Strong north winds can make the midfield and east end wind stronger than the AWOS suggests. There is also a special notice for Port Valdez area operations and Thompson Pass avalanche control.
No on-field FBOs are listed in the facts. Fuel access requires prior permission by phone. Large aircraft are restricted. Aircraft with more than 30 passenger seats need 24 hour prior written permission from the airport manager. The ramp has a southwest section that is not maintained from November 1 through April 15. Pilots should plan for winter conditions, terrain and local weather changes.
