Schenck Fld is in Clarinda, Iowa. The field elevation is 995.9 ft MSL. It has two runways. The longest is runway 02/20 at 5,002 ft. There is no control tower. CTAF and UNICOM are both 122.8.
No ILS approaches are published here. Pattern altitude is not published, so use the standard 1,000 ft AGL for light piston traffic unless the current Chart Supplement says otherwise. The on-field FBO is Clarinda Flying Service. It carries 100LL and Jet A. Call ahead at (712) 542-3010 for current service status.
Runway 02/20 has medium intensity lights. REILs are installed on runway 20. PAPI is installed on runways 02 and 20. Runway 13/31 is turf and is marked with yellow cones on both ends. That turf runway has no snow removal. It is closed when snow conditions exist. The published remarks also note a maintained 20:1 approach surface and a 7:1 transitional surface. For a first-time arrival, the main things to plan for are the non-towered pattern, the lack of published ILS and the mixed turf and concrete runway setup. Use the current Chart Supplement and make your CTAF calls early.
